In my previous blog, Ethics vs Economics, I eluded to having to make a financial decision to walk away from Kimkins. Believe me; I struggled with what to do. I risked losing a lot.
The following conversation was in reference to obtaining new magazine articles and contacts:
Aug 20, 2007
Heidi: if you land us a magazine story (even if not the cover)
me: :)
Heidi: you'll get a company car :)
me: wha?? LOL
9:59 PM Heidi: :)
me: you're pulling my leg...
Heidi: not at all
me: :) great incentive! ;)
10:00 PM Heidi: and a raise :)
I submitted my story and articles to multiple magazines; however, I had not received a contact back from any at that point.
This next conversation is in reference to contacts with the reporters who scout stories for Harpo Studios (Oprah Winfrey):
Aug 22, 2007
Heidi: i'm telling you now, that if you get "us" on oprah $100,000 to you. promise.
11:12 AM me: wow... that's a very generous offer.... I'm working on it!!!
The next conversation concerned Heidi’s offer to me as PR director and head moderator. For reference, the “dead” comment refers to her being without access to the Kimkins forums for a time.
Aug 25, 2007:
Heidi: 1) since i'm "dead" could i ask you to ask the others about being admins?
me: sure
5:56 PM Heidi: what would you think of being head admin? new salary $1500/mo
me: oh wow...
There are more conversations, but my goal here is to reach the remaining admins. Tippy and Singing Lass, you are being used.

Thanks for putting this out there, Christin. Thank you, too, for valuing your integrity above economic gain, and walking away at great cost.
Heidi has intimated that we all left to somehow make money off of her, by spinning off to do our own thing. People need to realize what we willingly gave up to take this stand. In your case, those were some pretty big promises she made! In my case, she offered a $20,000 interest-free business loan and an instant customer base.
I think it is revealing that she made these offers when she knew I was out, in an effort to buy your loyalty to Kimkins.
As she said many times, "It's all about the money" and "Everyone has their price."
Maybe that is true for her, but, thank God it is not true for you, my friend!
Christin, I praise God that HE has given you the boldness and wisdom to do what you do concerning this mess called the Kimkins Diet.
I will continue to pray for you and the countless other members (myself included) who have been hurt, both physically and emotionally by this woman and her diet.
Take care,
Maria
Christin,
Would you be willing to share your story with Oprah?
If so, you can contact them through their website.
In fact, maybe if everyone were to write to the folks at Oprah we could get them to realize that their help would greatly be appreciated to spread the word and save others from falling victim to Heidi.
You can suggest story ideas for the Oprah show here:

Also, you can submit information to the editors of O Magazine here:

I think it would really be ironic, Christin, if you were actually able to get Kimkins on the Oprah Show, just like Heidi asked you to, but certainly not in the light that she wanted.
Thank you SO very much for sharing your story with all of us.
I sincerely hope you are able to start feeling better (and healing your body)soon.
I'm so very sorry for all that's happened to you. I'm sorry about the money/bribery issues and health problems too. You're so young, but this is a very important life lesson to learn. If it hadn't been the Kimkins thing, it would have been another. As women, we are so loyal and generally very sincere when we commit to something.
My concern is for you, the people who have abused food, and all the hate that exists for the person running Kimkins. When we are wronged, we carry that hurt and embarrassment and want all to see and understand the who, what, where, when and why of what has been done to us and especially why we did what we did that was so wrong. Did the person running Kimkins do you wrong? Absolutely. Do you need to expose all her or anyone’s dirty laundry? No. Jesus loves everyone, the same, no matter what they’ve done or will do. His Grace should be extended to the person running Kimkins by all of us.
Remember when the Pharisees brought the adulterous woman to Jesus? John 8: 1 – 11
3The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultery, and having set her in the center of the court,
4 they said to Him, "Teacher, this woman has been caught in adultery, in the very act.
5"Now in the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women; what then do You say?"
6They were saying this, testing Him, so that they might have grounds for accusing Him. But Jesus stooped down and with His finger wrote on the ground.
7But when they persisted in asking Him, He straightened up, and said to them, He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her."
8Again He stooped down and wrote on the ground.
9When they heard it, they began to go out one by one, beginning with the older ones, and He was left alone, and the woman, where she was, in the center of the court.
10Straightening up, Jesus said to her, "Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?"
11She said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said, "I do not condemn you, either Go From now on sin no more."
We are all condemning the person running Kimkins, hating her for what she represents, the money she’s making dishonestly, and the lies she’s told. We need to extend our love to her, without agreeing with what she’s doing. Jesus does that with us. None of us are sinless.
Matthew 5: 43 – 48
43"(You have heard that it was said, You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.'
44"But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
45so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
46"Forif you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?
47"If you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same?
48"Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Christin, you are the one that abused your body, first with too much food, then with too little. We’re all in the victim mode of thinking, blaming things, others, circumstances, etc. for our bad choices. You have taken responsibility by stating Kimkins is a dangerous diet. You have apologized to everyone, and now it is time for you to move on to a healthier life. Leave Kimkins, the talk, the drama, and all the negative stuff behind.
I wish you much success and happiness in life.
Bless you for standing up for what is right.
Hi Christin. Could you please blog about going on the morning show in NYC please? Everyone's hoping for the best and wishing you a wonderful time up there!
Hugs,
Mimi
